Yes! The holiday season has officially begun and once again, my DSIL has beat me to the punch. Her cards are mailed and presents all bought! Dang her! However, I will continue to fight those feelings of guilt. I always do so much better under pressure.
Thanksgiving day was GOOD! Even DH remarked how calm and relaxed I was in spite of packing away the last of the Halloween decorations, pulling out some of the Christmas decorations, setting the table with our finest wear, and getting the following items made or prepared for snacks and/or the T-day dinner table, i.e. salmon ball, baked pies, relish dish, cranberry dish, tossed salad, green bean dish, candied yams, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, rolls, etc, etc…
He was in charge of the turkey and clean-up! Just knowing I didn’t have to do clean-up made the cooking all the rest of the dinner actually quite enjoyable.
From the kitchen where I worked on making dinner, I could listen to or watch some movies I picked up from Goodwill the other day which the kids had running in the attached family room. (Talk about a great deal!) In all we watched FOUR movies thoroughout the day while we cooked, ate and generally vegged out! It was THE perfect laid back day.
With no company coming over, it was super relaxing and I don’t believe there was one tense moment the entire time. (Quite an accomplishment with two teenagers usually going at it.)
Nope, I did not brave the crowds at 4am this morning. Nor will I the entire weekend, probably. I’d rather pay a little extra than have to deal with people who are tired and irritable, thank you very much.

Christine, sounds like you had a wonderful day! I won’t brave the stores and crowds this weekend either. We had one mall that opened at the STROKE OF MIDNIGHT????? One good thing in working for yourself, you can shop in the middle of the week during the slowest time of the day!
Glad you had a great Thanksgiving Christine. Isn’t it wonderful to have a relaxing day occasionally?
sounds like a perfect holiday! and no shopping for me either. i did get dressed but seriously thought about calling a pajama day!
