Okay, second batch of fudge…not as good but still fairly decent. So far DH has not stepped up to the plate and made his batch of fudge. I suspect it will happen this coming weekend.
I can’t get into the Christmas shopping. Can’t, can’t, CAN’T bring myself to go to the malls. Christmas shopping never has interested me. Thankfully the kids seem to want less stuff this year. Unfortunately, what they do want cost LOTS more money. I much rather get them things during the year than wait for Christmas. Isn’t Christmas supposed to be a “spiritual” holiday? What is spiritual about gifts?
DS did surprise me by answering his dad’s question of “What would you want if money were no object?” with a reasonably sane reply! He said, quite seriously, a lifetime supply of reeds for my saxophone. Now THERE’S some thinking. Definitely not a glamorous gift.
I think making him buy his own reeds is making him realize that at $25-$30 a box, blowing (pun intended
) through a box or two a month starts to get pricey. Maybe there’s hope for him yet! (Of course, two days later he announced in the car that he really wanted a new saxophone to add to his collection. So practicality might’ve have been a lapse in judgement on his part earlier that week.)
I hate electronic games but I must admit that the Wii sounds like fun. However, after reading Suzanne Earley’s quest for one, I think I can live without one a bit longer.
DD is easier to shop for. She’s wants girly things and an iPod video. The grandparents might be helping in that department.
Sigh…I guess I will have to steel myself to the task of shopping. Note to self: take a list with backup plans. (I wish my stepdaughter lived closer. She LOVES to shop and I bet I could enlist her to help. )
Instead of taking advantage of the kids being in school and doing some shopping yesterday, I rearranged my living and dining rooms. I can live with an arrangement for YEARS and suddenly decide I HATE it! Thank God for those furniture magic sliders. Of course, DH came home, walked past the living room and never noticed a thing! He truly is the most unobservant person alive. Sigh…
Well…maybe tomorrow I’ll shop…or not.

Yes, that’s the trouble as they get bigger, the things they want just get more and more expensive…….
I think this time of year, it’s a decision of will. There’s always online shopping or go to stores that are not in a mall so it’s easier in & out etc. I can’t believe you had another good round of fudge…. you should teach classes on that next
i don’t enjoy the “going and getting the gift” so much but i like pondering about the perfect gift to give. and i love getting my gifts too
and since my daughter actually works at the mall, sometimes she’s my little elf and THAT’S grand! good luck!
