Yeah! Just dropped off my son at the pickup point for his trip to Idaho. The band is competing in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival this weekend. I’m not sure how they’ll do. Rehearsals have been a bit “rough” lately so we can only hope for the best. They can’t win them all, so a bit of humble pie might be good for them.
I considered going with them on the trip (they always like having more parents around to sort of chaperone and keep these 18 or so teenagers out of trouble) but it’s suppose to be COLD there and from what I’ve heard it is a free-for-all due to the sheer number of bands competing there. As I am still somewhat recovering from the “flu thing” (okay, I feel pretty good but not good enough to subject myself to a weekend of playing the “heavy” around a bunch of good but lively bunch of kids
), I bagged out of this trip! Yeah!
A Friday where I have no time schedule to which to adhere? What will I do with myself? Well, DD and I can go do girly things and just chill out afterwards. Because so much energy and attention is focused on DS’s music endeavors, DD sometimes gets the short end of the stick. So I try to do something “special” with her whenever possible. She loves chick flick movies, so I think we will definitely need to take one in this weekend.
I see several people took great offense to my Magnificent Monday entry and as a result I was removed from some blogrolls. I am disappointed that these people may have misunderstood my position but, oh well… I guess I’ll go find a seat next to Mark Lipskinski. ROFLOL!!!
A quick note about politics and the news: Shame on the New York Times. In some ways I can certainly understand why they’d run the story about McCain and why they needed to take time to vet the story. However, it doesn’t seem like it was vetted very well, even at that. Too many anonymous sources and “suggestions” with very little fact.
But just for argument’s sake, let’s say it was true, i.e. that McCain did have a liaison with this woman. So??? It happens. Now if he was handing out business favors as a result of this relationship that would not be acceptable. But it doesn’t really sound like that was happening, at least there doesn’t seem to be much concrete proof of it.
Maybe it’s because I am a left-wing liberal Democratic at heart, but I just don’t see the story here. I wasn’t all that concerned about Bill Clinton’s foolishness with Monica L. (except that it angered me that not only did he do it in the house my taxes help support but he had the nerve to then lie about it to our faces – jerk!).
If a politician wants to screw up his personal family relationship with an affair, that doesn’t necessarily make him a bad leader. You need to question, though, if that affair gives anyone an advantage in terms of financial or political power, i.e. compromises him as a leader. The recent article doesn’t give enough to determine if there really was any “funny” business happening on ANY level with McCain and this “other” woman.
I thought Bill was pretty stupid for a smart man and I think this McCain story is stupid. I wouldn’t vote for the man but I certainly wouldn’t condemn him based on this stupid New York Times story. I hope it blows over quickly and the news gets backing to talking about the real issues most of us care about, which I suspect is NOT whether a politician was playing footsy under the table with a “friend”!
Ahh…okay, that’s off my chest!
Now I think I will happy dance into my studio and press some fabrics I recently purchased and washed. Wow, I can work until 3:30 without interruption! I might actually sew! Nirvana!

Well, sorry about your Marvelous Monday post. I read it and it didn’t make me mad. Hope you get lots of sewing done and enjoy your time with your daughter.
I totally missed the “Monday” post…hmmm…boy do you have me curious…lol!
Well, it really wasn’t THAT big of a deal…I thought. However, it appears to some that I was not significantly distressed enough over the plight of some bethren quilters or sensitive enough to believe in a multitude of online friendships.
Frankly, I feel too much emphasis was put on only PART of what I said and to those that took offense…go eat some chocolate and get over it!
I missed the post, and I am terrible at treasure hunts and word problems. I suppose I’m not a good player.
Christine, I have to admit that I don’t always agree with you, but this time I do! I thought the article on McCain was a total waste of space.
Glad you got to enjoy some free time to yourself and with your daughter. Mothers never seem to get enough of that! Now, I’m going to catch up on my blog and answer to your “tag”.
