Election day, that is!
Technically, I’ve already voted. After spending a LARGE portion of Sunday going through the two thick voters pamphlets and debating (sometimes hotly) the pros and cons of various candidates and state/local measures, both DH and I made our decisions and we’re done. Our ballots are mailed.
Too bad the rest of the country isn’t. Frankly, I’m ready for some good beer ads!
The latest gem to rear its ugly head for the Obama campaign might be the Rashid Khalid association. Oh brother! Get real, people. I don’t think an INTELLIGENT person should get their knickers in a twist because a politician actually “might” be friends with someone that others deem as a terrorist.
Gasp, sputter! I know, I should care, shouldn’t I? But I don’t. Why? Because that stupid ass word “terrorist” is soooo frigging overused. AND because what if Khalid does fit the definition of terrorist (and he may very well)…so? Does that mean anyone and everyone who associates with him is also a terrorist? I suppose entire university department staffs must also be painted with the same brush if that’s our criteria.
That’s like saying if one calls themselves a Palestinian then they are without question a terrorist. OH! That’s right, some Republicans feel that is EXACTLY what they must then be. So I guess one needs to be extra vigilant in avoiding any and all contact and/or friendships with the “enemy”. For Christ’s sake, grow a brain, people.
Obama not only has the audacity of hope but he has the audacity to invite conversations and friendships that challenge his own thinking and views. Now there is a rarity. Someone who listens. Someone who invites learning all sides to an issue.
This does not mean his view regarding the state of Israel and situation with Palestine are changed. It might actually mean he has a deeper understanding of the differences between these people and, perhaps more importantly, the similarities of these people! Gosh, maybe understanding could provide an avenue to, if not peace, some much needed tolerance?
That’s right. Many of the Republican base don’t believe in THAT either! I think I’d rather vote for a rational terrorist than an inflexible, angry white guy with a recently cited “unethical” running mate!
Dear readers, don’t waste your time posting comments to this blog entry unless you wish to be challenged and exercise some critical thinking of your own!
Still cranky and looking for more scary Halloween movies!

I have already voted too and am ready for it to be OVER!!!
Over would be nice. They are dead even in our state on the last poll so you can just imagine the fun we are having. No advance voting here either. Goody. Pass the beer please. At least the beer commercials don’t scare my kid. There’s a special place …. very hot….. for idiots that put that type of commercial on TV.
